Simple translation

If you just need a translation of a few documents or perhaps of only one, the process will be very simple: get an online quote, then proceed to the order page. Management of complex localisation projects

When it comes to more complex localisation projects, the appropriate flow of work through various phases becomes critically important to ensure the utmost quality while meeting deadlines and cost requirements. A designated project manager will co-ordinate all project-related activities and work closely with your representative, guiding the project through the following phases:


Project analysis

At the project analysis phase, the project manager's responsibility is to determine the most efficient course of action to guide the product through the localisation process.

A clear understanding of the scale and scope of the project allows us to set the optimal project development timeline, to understand specific requirements and to prepare the necessary tools, such as translation memories, that will significantly reduce costs and improve consistency.


Preparation

After the project analysis is complete, the localisation team assembles the start-up package. This consists of the source files, existing glossaries and/or terminology databases, and the client's guidelines for style and technical issues. Having this material available at an early phase of the project guarantees full comprehension of all details of the localisation process.


Development

At the development stage, a team of translators performs the actual translation of the source materials. Since localisation of a web site or a software product involves translating graphics, strings and other formatted source material, translation has to be carried out in close co-operation with graphic artists and software personnel. This will ensure that the proper meaning is conveyed, given the geometrical limitations of the product's visual elements. Other important activities at this stage include expanding the translation memory and creating product glossaries.


Quality assurance

Quality assurance (QA) is probably the most important phase of a localisation project. It results in a great difference between the outcome provided by a freelance localiser and one provided by a well-organised localisation service vendor. Simply proofreading the final product cannot ensure quality. Even when we have just to translate a document, we always pass it through a unique 4-step verification procedure, led by a QA supervisor:

  • Verification by a subject editor - we have built a network of top Ph.D.-level professionals working in all the subject areas with which we deal. For each project, we select the most knowledgeable expert, who provides consultation to translators during the development phase and checks all translated text to ensure that the meaning is precisely conveyed, and that all technical details and terminology are correct. This expert plays a critical role in the preparation of the glossaries and terminology base.

  • Verification by a language specialist - one of the biggest assets of the Script Group is our in-house team of Ph.D.-level linguists, who ensure the stylistic perfection of the final product. For each project, we choose a linguist who works closely with you and makes every attempt to reflect your individual corporate style in the translated documentation.

  • Check by a cross-culture consultant - we always seek the advice of our in-house cross-culture consultant to prevent the localised product from containing culturally inappropriate language, iconography and colour schemes.

  • Proofreading - before delivery we check every document for spelling and formatting errors.

For software or web site localisation, our test engineers are involved in further stages of the QA process:

  • Regeneration and beta-testing of the online documentation.

  • Beta-testing of the product or the web site.


Maintenance, updates and support

Whether occasionally or regularly, any content requires updating, be it a user's manual, a database or a web page. The Script Group provides a reliable update service. When you need to update your localised product, simply tell our project manager about the necessary changes. The updates will be made by the same team, using its accumulated language resources and technical experience. As far as a web site is concerned, we can monitor all the changes in the original content ourselves, identify changes, alert your representative and then, pending their approval, proceed to localise the new items.
